You need muscles!
Muscles hold your body up, when proportionally balanced they hold your posture up as well. They allow you to move, carry stuff, do the things you love to do. You don’t want to bulk up maybe, or you used to do bodybuilding in your younger years, now you just want to be lean and you think that yoga will achieve this goal. Know this: If you are 30 years old or up, if you are not building muscle mass, then you are losing muscle mass, that is just what happens! And to build muscle mass, you need to lift weight, or rather you need to lift heavy weight.
Of course, do not start a new exercise with heavy weight. Until you have mastered the technique, angles, positioning etc.…. test the exercise without weight first, then light weight. When you are secure, you will notice in your programs that some sets have a variable of lower reps in different places, when that happens, these are the spots where you increase the weight to match the rep scale in the program. When working on your own, with our on-line programs, play it safe, but rest assured that you are much stronger than you think, so strive to reach new heights. Unless you are taking steroids, you won’t bulk up when you workout on the Dr Fitness USA’s balanced program.
